Horse Directory
Look through all the horses and pick out your favorite. Once you know who you want to adopt fill out the "Adopt-a-Horse Application" and mail it in.
Apache
Apache – Apache is a beautiful blue roan appaloosa gelding. He was born sixteen years ago and raised here at Paradise Ranch . Apache never misses a meal and is a great horse for trick mounting, trail riding, or cattle working. He’s been a steady part of our program for over a decade.
Bobbi
Bobbi – If you’re allergic to horses you’ll like Bobbi. This American Bashkur Curly mare is hypoallergenic so you won’t be allergic to her. Not only that but she loves children and trail rides. A 1995 bay mare, she has been here at Paradise Ranch a long time.
Bugs
Bugs – This old-style quarter horse gelding sure knows how to carry a load. He’s the horse you want on those long trail rides over a lot of country. Bugs is a nine-year-old bay western lesson and trail horse.
Butch
Butch – What he lacks in hair, Butch makes up for with servanthood. This steady eddy 1998 bay gelding is a great horse for first timers or experienced riders. He is gentle enough to learn on but responsive enough for fun. Butch gives grade horses a good name.
Casey
Casey – Casey is a former dressage horse who is getting pretty used to having a western saddle on his back. This stoutly built sorrel quarter horse sure does know how to move. He’s been here a couple years now and we look forward to him being here for many more.
Chavez
Chavez – This old boy was born and raised here at Paradise Ranch. Chances are if you have done something at Paradise Ranch, Chavez was your mount or he was in the string. He never takes a day off, and has been ready to go every morning for many years. Chavez is a 1992 sorrel and a cornerstone of Paradise Ranch.
Cheyenne
Cheyenne – Cheyenne is a sweet little mare that loves to teach kids and adults how to ride. She can be found up by the barn many mornings waiting to be caught and used. She’s a 1997 mare and loves to meet new people. Cheyenne has been at Paradise Ranch for four years.
Chino
Chino – Chino is a flashy paint mare that loves to show off her markings. As a 1999 mare, she is already one of our best beginner lesson horses. She has learned things fast around here as she was started under saddle at Paradise Ranch. If there are pony rides to be done, you can bet Chino we’ll be doing them.
Colonel
Colonel – Colonel has been a lead horse on many trail rides. As a former staff horse, he was used this summer for riding lessons and loved it. He’s looking forward to many more summers as a lesson and trail horse. He’s a 2001 sorrel quarter horse gelding.
Cricket
Cricket – This smaller horse doesn’t let his height hold him back. Brought into our program in 2008, Cricket jumped right into our summer string his first summer. He can do lessons, trail and a lot more. There aren’t many other bay geldings around like this guy. He sure does get excited when new groups to come to Paradise Ranch.
Dillon
Dillon – Dillon is a 1995, sharp looking, appaloosa gelding. He is a great beginner horse and takes many people on their first trail ride. Built well, and mild mannered, he is the perfect camp horse. Dillon has been at Paradise Ranch since 2007 and is quickly becoming a favorite around here.
Dixie
Dixie – Dixie is a good looking, well built Quarter Horse Dun. She is able to carry quite a load or take someone on a fast-paced ride. For the last couple years, she has earned her keep and more by going on trail rides and riding lessons for many guests at Paradise Ranch. Dixie is a 1994 mare.
Grace
Grace – This little red dun sure is a sweetheart. Started under saddle here at Grace Adventures, Grace (the horse) has become a constant part of our program. This do-it-all little ball of energy is great for trail rides, lessons, pony rides, and is sure to nuzzle up next to you any time you call her name. Many young ones learn to ride off her back and she never misses a chance to come to the barn in the morning for grain. Grace is 2001 mare.
Gus
Gus – Gus is a tall, strong, 1996, black appaloosa gelding. He comes from Missouri and has settled in here at Paradise Ranch very well. In his first summer he did it all. Now a staple in our trail string and a leader on Horse Island, Gus has found his place. He’s a favorite among staff and campers alike.
Hawk
Hawk – Hawk is a one-of-a-kind paint gelding. He doesn’t miss many meals and is always very friendly. Hawk is a 1992 gelding and has been here since 2005. He’s gone on many a trail ride and spent lots of hours in the arena. If there are people to meet you can bet Hawk will be up by the gate.
Indy
Indy – Another horse from Missouri, Indy is a very responsive mount. He is a 1997 paint gelding. He loves to work cows or give lessons. Indy has been at Paradise Ranch since 2004. He looks forward to when hay arrives and loves to get grain in the morning.
Kade
Kade – Kade is a large bodied well-built former barrel racing horse. He was donated by a Cross Crew member and has fit in well here at Paradise Ranch. He’s friendly and willing to go out on the trail. He’s looking forward to turning around some barrels in the Shodeo arena at Paradise Ranch in the future.
Little Man
Little Man – They call him Little Man but at 16.3 hands tall there’s not much little about him. This 1997 bay appaloosa gelding has been here for a while. Even though he’s tall, he loves to take little tykes out on trail and arena rides. You can find him behind the barn waiting for grain most mornings.
Magnum
Magnum – This flashy black and white paint just arrived this spring with his brother Maverick from Missouri. He is built like a tank and loves to go out on the trail. He is a 1998 gelding and is getting used to being around these parts.
Maverick
Maverick – The brother to Magnum this guy looks just like him. A black and white, 1998 gelding that has found himself as part of the Paradise Ranch herd. You’ll see him working his way into our strings in the years to come.
Rain
Rain – Rain is a tall, black, quarter horse mare. Donated by a Cross Crew member she has lots of years of service coming up. She likes to go out on the trail and comes in every morning when she’s called. Rain is seven years old.
Ranger
Ranger – Ranger is a former show horse. A big tall quarter horse gelding, Ranger is a staple in our trail string. He can go for days at a time hauling people around our woods. Ranger is mild tempered and never spooks at anything. This is a great mount.
Rascal
Rascal – Don’t mind his name, Rascal is a great horse. He was donated by a former camper and has immediately become a favorite around these parts. A flashy sorrel with lots of chrome he stands out from the herd. Rascal is a 1993 quarter horse gelding.
Sky
Sky – Sky is a quarter horse gelding that could’ve spent many a day in the show ring. Instead he’s been here at Paradise Ranch his whole life. Born and raised here, many people have taken their first ride off Sky’s back. He’s a 1993 steady eddy that is always willing to work. There aren’t many horses around like this guy.
Storm
Storm – Donated in the winter of 2008 Storm is a former camper’s horse. He has adjusted just great and is now a constant part of our program. A 1993, taller bay, Storm is just as at home on the trail or in the arena or giving a pony ride. He is a camper favorite and a great horse.
Tootsie
Tootsie – You might notice something different about this little girl. She’s an energetic 1999 Arabian mare. After a few years as a staff and Junior Wrangler horse she’s trying to work her way into the every day string and is doing a fine job. Tootsie is a good-looking bay with lots of spunk.
Wildfire
Wildfire – Wildfire is a little bit of a misnomer for a name. This 1997 bay paint gelding is a sweetheart around the ranch. He’s the perfect horse for a young guy or gal to take out for a ride. After being here for a few years now, Wildfire is as much a part of Paradise Ranch as any horse and one of our regulars in service.
Yankee
Yankee – Yankee comes from the south but he’s at home here at Paradise Ranch. He’s a responsive lesson horse and a reliable trail mount. He stands over 16.2 hands tall and is a good looking seal brown. He plays a valuable role in our trail and lesson strings.
Zip
Zip – This little grade mare was born and raised here as well. She doesn’t miss many meals and has given plenty of kids their first ride. She likes the spotlight and you can see here in front of the Shodeo Crowds every Friday night during the summer. She earns her keep in the trail string all year round.
Zoe
Zoe – As a sister to Zip, Zoe has become one of our most requested horses. She’s quick, responsive, and great looking. Zoe is a black, 1996, mare that was also born and raised here. She is a great lead horse or a reliable camper mount. She can do it all. You don’t have to ask Zoe twice to go forward.
Cole
Cole – Cole is a really sharp looking black mustang gelding. He’s tall dark and handsome which is why the staff likes him around here so much. He’s been a staff horse for a few years but look to see him work his way into the trail and lesson string in the future.
Dollar

Dollar – Dollar is a 2002 chestnut Quarter Horse gelding. He’s a staff horse right now that is still learning what it means to be a wrangler horse around here. He came from Missouri in the spring of 08’ and is quickly getting used to Michigan.
Spark
Spark – Spark is a young palomino quarter horse gelding. He is 2003 colt and is becoming a really well trained camp horse. Easygoing and laidback describe spark. He’s going to make a very nice addition to the Paradise Ranch herd.
Zee Girl
Zee – Zee girl can be described as the old mare around these parts. She doesn’t take any gruff from other horses and pretty much runs the show. She’s been a faithful camp horse, a mother, and now a staff horse. She may take a turn or two in the lesson or trail string but mostly she likes to be a staff horse.
Beau
Beau – Beau is the lovable giant around here. He stands almost 18 hands tall and weighs a more than some cars. He’s a Percheron Thoroughbred cross. A 2002 colt, he has been trained through the help of a faithful volunteer. He is one of our trail guide horses and is getting pretty good at his job. We had to find a volunteer that was 6’8” in order to fit him.
Karsten
Karsten – Karsten is a young quarter horse filly with a ton of potential. She comes out of some really well-bred horses and was donated by a former professional trainer. She’s just learning what it means to be a camp horse now and we’re excited to see her grow in the future. She is a 2006 sorrel filly.
Penny and Jenny
Penny and Jenny – As one of our draft horse teams these two gray mares do quite a bit of work for us. Strong enough to pull a full wagon around, but gentle enough to be used to teach kids how to drive these two mares are quite a duo. They are 1993 and 1996 Percheron quarter horse cross draft horses.
Jim and Jess
Jim and Jess – No those aren’t satellite dishes, they’re ears. These are our mules and wow are they something else. As our second team here at Paradise Ranch you might see them pulling a wagon of kids or out in the woods dragging logs. They pull hard that’s for sure. They may be a little bit stubborn (they are mules) but they like to serve here at Paradise Ranch. They are 1999 black John Mules.
