Women's Retreat Workshops

 

WORKSHOPS: will be offered Saturday at 9:30 and 4:30 during the Women's Retreat. Only crafts requires a sign up. Topics, teachers and times are subject to change. (Weekends offered are denoted as September 28 = 1, October 5 = 2, October 12 = 3.)

SANDWICHES VS BROWNIES

 Keep 5 with Sharon Hallack – 9:30, ALL

 Women who are caring for their aging parents, while still raising a family, are referred to as the "sandwich generation". Are you munching on sandwiches while dreaming about brownies? Is parent care a new or anticipated role for you and you're feeling helpless or worse, scared? You are definitely not alone! Hear what Sharon has learned in the past 10 years about caring for parents who can no longer care for themselves, and pick up some great tips. But more importantly come hear how God can use this season in your life to refine you and deepen your faith!

We were born to worship God. Every time we praise who He is, it unleashes His life changing power in our lives. It is impossible to touch the presence of God and there not be change!

This workshop will discuss what worship is, how God intended it to be in utilized in our lives and also discover the hidden POWER in praise and worship. Come ready to expand your view of worship and discover how praise is the prayer that changes everything!

 

WHAT'S YOUR TYPE?

Aerobeacon with Tim Hertzler – 9:30, ALL

No, we're not talking blood or online dating! Using the DISC behavioral style model, we will look at the different ways God has wired us to respond to our environment. Learn about different behavior styles and what they mean in your everyday life with husbands, kids, friends AND everyone! It may even help explain the tension in some of your relationships. When you more fully understand how God created you, you are better able to relate to God and others.

 

PARABLE OF THE HORSE

Paradise Ranch with Tim Younglove – 9:30, ALL

Using horses, psychology, scripture and Biblical teaching, Tim Younglove, the Paradise Ranch manager and a former professional horse trainer will lead this interactive demonstration workshop. He will show skills and principles of horse handling and then help relate them to your spiritual life.

 

THE RED BUCKET

Keep 2 with Ben VanderKodde – 9:30, ALL

Ever get stuck in a rut and feel like you're doing the same thing in the same way? Patterns can be good and very helpful; but you may need a red bucket. A red bucket? Yes, come learn to "break the pattern" on purpose so that you can creatively move forward! This creativity steps can be applied in your relationships, parenting, jobs, meetings and many other areas of life!

 

WOMEN AT RISK, INTERNATIONAL

Women At Risk, International (WAR, Int'l) is a U.S.-based, non-profit organization. We currently work in over 31 countries creating havens of safety and healing for at-risk women and children. Our purpose and passion is to give voice to the silenced cries of the oppressed, wrap arms of love around them, and whisper messages of purpose and dignity into their brokenness. Whether across the ocean or in your backyard come and hear how human trafficking is changing our culture and what you CAN do about it.

 

GETTING CRAFTY!

Treasure Room – 9:30 & 4:30, ALL

You might be a natural crafter and you might not but everyone can make this easy no-sew chalkboard banner! Sit, socialize, meet someone new and leave with a unique project that you can use to celebrate all year round! Due to space limitations and cost of supplies, sign up is required. A $3 donation is requested to cover the direct cost of supplies. ZUMBA—A DANCE EXERCISE CLASS

Beacon Gym with Kelly Mines and Tirza Snuffer (1&2) or Lauren Vander Laan (3)

Looking to shake things up, try something new or work off some of that delicious lunch? Zumba is a latin/hip-hop inspired class that anyone from beginners to veterans can enjoy. Come for an hour of taking care of the body God has given you...you won't mind the sweating and might even have fun!

 

RAISING HEROES: BECOMING BRAVE MOMS OF GODLY KIDS

Keep 3 with Lee Nienhuis – 9:30, ALL

If your greatest heart cry is to see your children thrive in a world becoming increasingly evil, you are not alone. If good enough is not okay, and you are unwilling to settle for mediocre faith in yourself and your kids, come for a time of rich study in the book of Judges. We'll walk that line of timeless truths and deeply practical application because this world is looking for heroes of the faith and your kids can be one of them.
